Monarch In Hong Kong

– Photography Show & Lecture

The Monarch butterflies are globally distributed and are most famous in America because they display a magnificent migration phenomenon in which billions of them travel a great distance between Canada and Mexico every year. In Hong Kong they are rarely spotted and considered a wanderer. They got some attention in 2014 when their image and story appeared on the big screen in Space Museum. Soon after that in the summer of 2015 some real Monarch butterflies landed in Hong Kong, right at the butterfly garden created by Paul in Lamma Island. They found Paul’s nice garden irresistible and decided to stay around for a holiday.

In this show and lecture Paul will introduce to you a complete story of the life history of the Monarch butterflies and his experience with these special visitors who were so pleased with his hospitality that they extended their stay as long as for multiple generations. Since the Monarch butterflies are extremely well studied and there are lots of great information on the web, Paul will also share with you some very useful on-line resources.
