Night Safari In Lamma Island

– Photography Show & Guided Nature Walk

Do not fear just because you cannot see in the darkness and don’t know about what is out there at night. Come to the night time nature experience guided by Paul. Once your vision is reduced in the darkness, your attention will be switched to other senses for discovering the night. You will pay attention to the sounds and scents; see animal’s eyes glowing at night when you light them with a torch; encounter interesting night-active moths, insects, spiders, owls, bats… and Hong Kong’s famous Romer’s Tree Frog, the smallest amphibian in the territory. It was first discovered on Lamma in 1952 and has been recorded solely from 4 of the outlying islands in Hong Kong. In spring and early summer we will have a good chance of encountering the impressive frog choir ensemble and massive spawning.

Before the exploration into the darkness Paul will give a photography show featuring some of the special local night creatures and the ones you may soon encounter. Searching with a torch along the footpaths you will always find some of them around. He will also set up special lamps to attract insects which normally come to the lights.
